WELCOME CLASS OF 2015! @ 11:52 AM

Welcome ladies!
My name is Camila Daniels, and I am the leader of Constellation Pyxis! I am currently a Junior studying Math and Economics. I was born and raised on the island of St. Thomas, and I enjoy reading, visiting parks and the beach, and playing music. On campus, outside of being a Constellation Leader, I’m the Vice President of Finance for the Student Government Association. At home, I was recently crowned Miss Virgin Islands and will be representing the territory at the Miss America Pageant next January in Las Vegas.  I’m super excited about meeting all of you and I hope that this will be an amazing year.
On Monday, August 29th, we will be visiting surprise locations throughout the city in our Constellation Groups. On page 30 of the NSOP Schedule Book, the meeting location of the Pxyis Constellation is in Diana LL104. Please be advised that this has actually been changed to Hewitt Dining Hall, in the basement of Hewitt Hall. Please wear your Constellation shirts that day and purchase your metro cards in advance.
This will be the first of a series of events that we will do together throughout the year. In addition to facilitating and planning events, I hope to be able to serve as a resource for anything you may need this year; whether it be advice, support, or other information. My role is to do all that is within my power to ensure that your transition into life at Barnard and in New York City is as smooth as possible. I know that your RAs will be doing a lot of floor specific programming, and there will never be a shortage of events on campus, so I would love your input and ideas for things that we can do together to cultivate a community that won’t be redundant. The overall mission of Barnard Constellations is to cultivate a strong sense of campus community, and we can only do so by working together. I’m open to anything; we can do study breaks or study sessions, we can see shows on or off campus, our programming can be as structured or as laid back as you see fit. At the end of the day, I’m here to make sure that you have the best experience and that your first year is as memorable as possible.
Lastly, Constellation Pyxis can be a bit of a mouthful, so if anyone has any suggestions for a group nickname/ mascot I would really appreciate it. I would like us to vote on a nickname and a mascot by next week Wednesday, so please email me by then. You can join our FaceBook group by clicking on this link: tinyurl.com/constellationpyxis, and you can access our blog using this link: barnardpyxisconstellation.blogspot.com.
I look forward to meeting you all, and I hope that you’re enjoying the last few weeks of summer.
